Intel® VTune™ Amplifier

Running Analysis from the Android* System

To run the Intel® VTune™ Amplifier directly from the target system, do the following:

  1. Make sure the VTune Amplifier collector is installed on your Android device.
  2. Enable root mode access on the target device:

    adb root

  3. Start a shell to the target device:

    adb shell

  4. Load required drivers. For drivers available with the build, enter:

    insmod /lib/modules/pax.ko ; insmod /lib/modules/vtsspp.ko ; insmod /lib/modules/sep3_10.ko

    For drivers built manually, enter:

    insmod /data/data/com.intel.vtune/perfrun/drv32/pax.ko ; insmod /data/data/com.intel.vtune/perfrun/drv32/vtsspp.ko ; insmod /data/data/com.intel.vtune/perfrun/drv32/sep3_10.ko

  5. Change to the VTune Amplifier tmp directory: cd /data/data/com.intel.vtune/tmp
  6. Run the VTune Amplifier collector. For example, for the First Generation Intel Atom processors enter:

    /data/data/com.intel.vtune/perfrun/bin32/amplxe-runss.sh --result-dir xxx_@@@ --tmp-dir /data/data/com.intel.vtune/tmp --event-config CPU_CLK_UNHALTED.CORE:,CPU_CLK_UNHALTED.REF: --collector sep --target-process com.google.android.talk

Many counter names are different between various microarchitectures. The following correspondence table provides a short list of counters referenced in this manual:
