Atomics time is wall time spent by an OpenMP runtime library on performing atomic operations.
Atomic operations are usually more efficient than usage of synchronization objects like critical sections but if they are used intensively, this can lead to additional overhead. Consider using reduction operations where possible to eliminate the atomic cost.
