Preparing a Target Windows* System for Energy Analysis

Energy analysis on Windows* systems is supported in the Intel® VTune™ Amplifier for Systems, part of the Intel® System Studio for Windows Target.

This step is not required if you are collecting data on a system with Intel® VTune™ Amplifier for Systems installed.

If you want to collect energy data on a Windows system other than the one on which VTune Amplifier for Systems is installed:

Copy the Intel SoC Watch installer (<install_dir>\target\windows_socwatch\socwatch_windows_<version>.msi) to the target Windows* system.
Run the installer on the target system to install the appropriate version of the tool (32-bit or 64-bit) and its drivers (signed with the standard Intel certificate). The package also contains a user’s guide, and an End User License Agreement. By default, the Intel SoC Watch collector is installed in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\SoCWatch directory.
Set your Path environment variable to point to the installed bin directory containing socwatch.exe and you are ready to begin collection.
